1) Drawing Review When a new drawings comes, the mechanic engineer must review all drawings and technical documents from the customer and make sure the requirement is complete for production, the 2D drawing matches the 3D model and the customer’s requirements match what we quoted. if not, come back to Sales Manager and ask for updating the customer’s PO or drawings.
2) Generating 2D drawings
When the customer only provide 3D models to us, the mechanic engineer should generate the 2D drawings with basic dimensions (such as length, width, height, hole dimensions etc. ) for internal production and inspection.
Position Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Drawing review
The mechanic engineer has to review the design and all requirements from the customer’s 2D drawing and specifications, if any infeasible design issue or any requirement cannot be met by our process, the mechanic engineer must specify them and report to the Sales Manager and ask for updates on design before production.
1) Review 2D and 3D, check if match each other. If not, come back to Sales Manager and ask for clarification.
2) Review 3D and analyze the feasibility of machining.
3) Review the 2D, technical requirements and analyze if our capability could meet the requirements, including tolerances, surface finishing, testing etc.
4) Review the requirement and confirm if match what we quoted. If not, come back to Sales Manager and ask for PO or drawing update.
5) Review all requirements and confirm if clear and complete (material, quantity, surface finish, etc. ) if not, come back to Sales Manager and ask for more information.
Kick-off the Job
Generate the part BOM according the part drawings, surface finish requirements etc.
Create traveler according to process flow
Complete technical specification on 2D drawing
Update drawing and related document according to ECN from customers
Follow up production
After the project starts, the mechanic engineer needs to collaborate with the team and make sure the project always on track. If any issue that will possibly result in quality issue or lead-time delay, the mechanic engineer needs to proactively work out a solution to get the project back on tract.
Documentation management
In order to centralize managing project documents, the mechanic engineer needs to upload all project documents to the server according to the SOP of project document management.
1) Upload customer’s 2D and 3D drawings when project starts.
2) Upload all DFMs, including original and approved DFMs.
3) Upload all feedback documents or approval emails
4) Upload all work instructions, including part BOM, ECN, related etc.
Junior college degree or above, mechanical engineering related subject.
Over the three years experience in making mechanical 2D and 3D drawings
Familiar with AutoCAD and one 3D/CAD software.
Familiar with CNC machining process and basic knowledge of surface finish.
Familiar with GD&T, understand English drawing well.
